How should I dose Bestvital® colostrum?2023-03-28T11:50:30+01:00

The average consumption recommendation for our Bestvital® colostrum products is 1 tablespoon (10 ml) per 30 kg body weight or 1 capsule (400 mg) per 25 kg body weight.

And what about BSE?2023-03-28T11:50:30+01:00

There is no evidence to date that BSE can be transmitted through a cow’s milk or colostrum. The EU Commission has clearly ruled this out.

However, to be absolutely sure, we only process colostrum from certified (organic) farmers in Germany for our Bestvital® products, as it has been proven that there has never been a case of BSE in an organic cattle herd.

What can Bestvital® organic colostrum do for me?2023-03-28T11:50:30+01:00

As a result of the aging process, the body’s production of immune and growth factors steadily declines. Colostrum is a natural source of these substances.

This is because (cow) colostrum not only supports and regulates the body’s immune functions in calves, but also optimises their cell structure.*

(*Unfortunately, as a manufacturer/distributor, we are prohibited from making healing claims regarding the effects of colostrum products on humans. At this point, we have to refer to numerous existing medical studies or to corresponding technical literature)

Why only colostrum from the very first hours after birth?2023-03-28T11:50:29+01:00

Colostrum is already formed during pregnancy and collected in the mammary glands. Within the first 12 hours after birth, more than 80% of the important colostrum ingredients have been transferred.

In the following hours and days, colostrum continues to be produced by the mother’s body, but only to a lesser extent. Finally, after 72 hours, the colostrum turns into the familiar milk.

That is why we only use the colostrum of the 1st and 2nd surplus milking within the very first hours for our Bestvital® (organic) products.

Why should I choose bovine colostrum?2023-03-28T11:50:29+01:00

Due to the so-called placental barrier, the immune substances that are essential for the survival of the calf are not yet passed on before birth. These antibodies enter the calf’s body only directly after calving (for about 72 hours) via colostrum administration.

Therefore, the cow’s colostrum contains more than 4 times as many immune factors as human colostrum.

Due to the similar composition, especially with regard to immune substances and growth factors, bovine colostrum can be particularly well utilised by humans. Since many components are not species-specific, they also show high efficiency in humans.

In order to be able to guarantee absolute freedom from antibiotics and hormones, in our Bestvital® products we exclusively process organic colostrum from controlled organic cattle herds in Germany.

Why have I never heard of colostrum before?2023-03-28T11:50:29+01:00

Colostrum has existed since mammals were born. Back in ancient Egypt, colostrum was considered a gift of the Sun God Ra to the pharaohs and high priests.

Among the Incas, colostrum was the food of the Sun Kings, and in ancient Greece it was the preferred source for enhancing the performance of athletes.

During the American Civil War, colostrum was used to treat wounds. Colostrum was also used by the personal physician of Goethe and Schiller, Dr Christof W. Hufeland.

By the end of the 19th century, numerous studies already existed regarding the functional diversity of colostrum, until finally, in the middle of the 20th century, the discovery of antibiotics such as penicillin ushered in the age of the pharmaceutical industry.

Colostrum was then completely forgotten in the following decades.

Only a few years ago, colostrum was again examined in extensive human studies and is now again highly valued as a completely natural remedy. Colostrum is classified as a foodstuff in Germany.

As one of the leading colostrum specialists in German-speaking Europe, we have been scientifically dealing with the natural substance colostrum for over 15 years and are thus among the pioneers in this field.

How should I take organic colostrum?2022-06-15T13:29:55+01:00

Both humans and animals can take colostrum by itself or together with food. However, heat should be absolutely avoided because when you take colostrum together with hot food or drinks, this can damage the sensitive ingredients. But especially liquid colostrum can be mixed with a glass of water, milk or even fruit juice without any problems.

When should I take organic colostrum?2022-06-15T13:29:27+01:00

Ideally, you should take our colostrum products on an empty stomach before a meal. However, it is of course also possible to take it throughout the day. But be careful not to take colostrum together with hot food or drinks in order to prevent damage to the sensitive ingredients, primarily the immunoglobulins.

How much organic colostrum do I need per day?2022-06-15T13:29:01+01:00

The recommended amount depends primarily on the dosage form. For the liquid version, we recommend one scoop per 30 kg of body weight. For prophylaxis, however, we also offer our colostrum capsules, which should be consumed in an amount of one capsule per 25 kg body weight.

How long can I take organic colostrum?2022-06-15T13:28:35+01:00

Colostrum is an approved food and very suitable for long-term and regular intake. When taking colostrum, you do not need to worry about the accumulation of individual components in the body. This is because the ingredients are water-soluble – any nutrients that are not needed are simply excreted again in the normal way. Therefore, you can trust in colostrum in optimal organic quality – without preservatives or other additives!

Can I take colostrum even if I am lactose intolerant?2023-03-29T16:23:53+01:00

Our Bestvital® colostrum products are very low in lactose. For those suffering from lactose intolerance, our Bestvital® organic liquid colostrum has proven particularly effective, as this product is the most lactose-reduced.

In case of doubt, however, you should first test compatibility with small amounts.

Is Bestvital® colostrum also tolerated long-term?2023-03-29T16:23:53+01:00

There is no reason not to consume our Bestvital® colostrum products long-term, as they are by definition approved foodstuffs in Germany.

Is Bestvital® colostrum also suitable for competitive athletes?2023-03-29T16:23:53+01:00

Of course, athletes can also benefit from the properties of the ingredients of colostrum. High-performance athletes in particular are often susceptible to a weakening of the immune system, e.g. due to overtraining, and are therefore dependent on the body’s ability to regenerate quickly.

By the way, many well-known competitive athletes have been relying on our high-quality Bestvital® colostrum products for years.

Is Bestvital® colostrum also suitable for kids?2023-03-29T16:23:52+01:00

Of course, colostrum is also suitable for infants and adolescents. The recommended dosage should of course be based on the body weight. Thus, the dosage can be lowered accordingly.

Why is Bestvital® colostrum defatted in the first place?2023-03-29T16:23:52+01:00

The lipids in colostrum ensure good dissolution and distribution, bind various ingredients, and provide some protection for immune factors.

But on the other hand, they are often difficult for the human body to digest and easily become rancid. This further limits the shelf life of colostrum.

That’s why Bestvital® colostrum products are not completely fat-reduced and thus represent a good compromise.

Bestvital liquid colostrum or Bestvital colostrum capsules?2023-03-29T16:23:52+01:00

Many people prefer colostrum in as natural a form as possible and subsequently opt for the liquid version. Our Bestvital® organic liquid colostrum comes exclusively from controlled organic animal husbandry in Germany and Austria and contains no preservatives.

For this reason, the bottle should be refrigerated after opening and consumed within 14 days. Bestvital® organic liquid colostrum is sterile-processed in an extremely gentle cold filtration process. It is almost the original product and only processed minimally.

Our Bestvital® organic colostrum capsules also come from controlled organic animal husbandry in Germany and Austria. Of course, they are also processed using the gentlest possible techniques (sterile microfiltration, freeze-drying). The starting material is again the liquid raw colostrum. Bestvital® organic colostrum capsules are particularly easy to handle and have a much longer shelf life.

And here too, we do not use any preservatives.

Do the calves still receive enough colostrum?2023-03-29T16:23:52+01:00

The very first colostrum produced by the mother is, of course, always given to the calf. It is essential for the health and survival of the new-born. Of course, this is also in the primary interest of every farmer.

However, since the mother produces considerably more colostrum (approx. 15-20 l) than the calf needs (approx. 5-7 l), the surplus (which was usually simply poured away in the past) can thus also be utilised for humans.

In this context, professional further processing of the first batch is particularly important. Our Bestvital® organic colostrum products are therefore produced using the most modern and gentle processing methods in the world.
