A number of questions are often associated with the topic of "colostrum intake": Is colostrum also suitable for pregnant women, lactose intolerants, diabetics or allergy sufferers? When and in what quantities should colostrum be taken? What is the difference between liquid and capsule products?
We address all these aspects in this blog article and answer the most important questions. After all, colostrum is a very special food and there are a few rules to follow when taking it. First, let's look at the practical side – in the second part of the article, you can also read about what you need to bear in mind when consuming colostrum.
Bestvital® Colostrum intake
How much, when and how – first of all, we want to shed light on all aspects relating to colostrum consumption in a practical sense.
Bestvital® Colostrum liquid or capsule?
The organic colostrum obtained from certified German and Austrian dairy farms is gently processed at Bestvital® into two different products for human consumption – the liquid serum on the one hand and the powder in capsule form on the other.
The colostrum capsules are simply taken with sufficient liquid – preferably on an empty stomach and before a meal. However, they can also be taken throughout the day. The colostrum serum can also be mixed with cold food or drinks.
Both variants contain the same amount of valuable nutrients. However, many customers prefer the liquid Bestvital® Colostrum Serum, as the original raw material is changed the least in the production of the serum.

Bestvital® Colostrum intake with food and drink
For a particularly good start to the day, liquid colostrum can be added to breakfast muesli, for example, or spooned into a cool dessert for dinner. Colostrum is not particularly sensitive to acidity and can therefore be combined with all cold foods and drinks.
It is important not to heat the colostrum serum above 42 °C, as this impairs the effectiveness of the ingredients.
The nutrients are particularly well absorbed if colostrum is taken on an empty stomach or before a meal.
What is the ideal daily dose of colostrum?
The rule of thumb for the ideal amount of colostrum to be taken daily is: approx. 10 ml (roughly equivalent to one tablespoon) in liquid form per 30 kg body weight, or one 400 mg capsule per 25 kg body weight.
Colostrum intake – this should be noted
The vital substance products from Bestvital®, which are intended for daily consumption, are not medicinal products or medical devices – because they are legally classified as food in the EU.
As a result, there are no general restrictions regarding intake. The products are suitable for people of all ages – the only exceptions are food intolerances or certain health conditions where medical advice should be sought before consumption.
Who Bestvital® Colostrum is suitable for
As a foodstuff, colostrum for adults is also ideally suited for regular consumption over a longer period of time. There are therefore no general restrictions when taking Bestvital® BIO Colostrum.
Due to its high density of nutrients, colostrum is an excellent dietary supplement, especially for the elderly. As a result, the body receives essential vital substances which it is often no longer able to produce effectively itself and absorb in sufficient quantities through the daily diet.
However, the consumption of colostrum is also suitable for children and adolescents without any restrictions. It is recommended that children adapt Bestvital® BIO Colostrum to their body weight in order to benefit from the advantages of the concentrated variety of nutrients. The highest possible product quality – preferably with the European BIO seal – is of course the first choice.
Colostrum intake for intolerances
Bestvital® Colostrum products contain small amounts of lactose, but are generally considered to be low in lactose. The amount of lactose in Bestvital® BIO Colostrum Liquid Extract is the lowest. When taking Bestvital® Colostrum, people with lactose intolerance should approach the normal dosage step by step in order to test whether any reactions occur and also to ensure that the organism tolerates the consumption of colostrum well.
However, if you have an existing allergy to milk protein, it is not advisable to take colostrum – you can usually obtain expert advice on what to look out for in the event of a milk allergy from your trusted doctor.
In Bestvital® products, however, the fats and cheese proteins (casein) naturally contained in cow colostrum, which are difficult to digest, have been removed as a precautionary measure – resulting in an extremely well-tolerated food.
Colostrum intake for diabetes
In people with type 2 diabetes there is no evidence that the use of Bestvital® Colostrum products would be problematic, on the contrary – some very positive experiences have even been observed in this respect.
Colostrum intake if you want to have children, are pregnant or breastfeeding
Bestvital® Colostrum can also be taken during pregnancy, while breastfeeding or if you wish to have children – so far there is no experience that would speak against it.
Conclusion
On the subject of "taking colostrum", we can summarize that you can hardly do anything wrong when taking colostrum – whether as a capsule or as serum. The most important point is – do not heat above 42 °C!
However, it can be added to cold or room temperature food and drinks without hesitation. However, it is most effective to take colostrum in concentrated form before meals, as this allows it to be absorbed most quickly by the intestines.
